Texas Drilling Permit and Completion Statistics for June 2025

AUSTIN – The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 606 original drilling permits in June 2025. The total includes 519 to drill new oil or gas wells, 9 to re-enter plugged wellbores, 77 for re-completion, and 1 reclass.

The breakdown of well types for total original drilling permits in June 2025 is: 106 oil, 54 gas, 410 oil and gas, 19 injection, 3 service and 14 other permits.

In June 2025, Commission staff processed 1,336 oil, 394 gas, and 346 injection completions.
