Holiday Office Closure

In observance of the Christmas holidays, Railroad Commission of Texas offices will be closed December 23-27. The offices will re-open at 8 a.m. on Monday, December 30 for regular business. Surface Mining Complaints

The Surface Mining and Reclamation Division (Division) is responsible for inspecting uranium exploration operations. Throughout the exploration, mining and reclamation process, onsite compliance inspections are conducted on a regular, but unannounced schedule, as required by the Coal Mining Regulations.  Active uranium exploration permits are also inspected on a regular, unannounced schedule.

Complaints by citizens regarding exploration or mining operations filed with the Division are investigated promptly and thoroughly. Onsite examination of complaints are scheduled with the citizen and investigations are performed to determine if reported problems are related to exploration or mining activities. A citizen may request that their identity be kept confidential.

To submit a citizen’s complaint regarding a coal mining/exploration operation or uranium exploration operation, please email miningcomplaint@rrc.texas.gov.
