Holiday Office Closure

In observance of the Christmas holidays, Railroad Commission of Texas offices will be closed December 23-27. The offices will re-open at 8 a.m. on Monday, December 30 for regular business. Annual Pressure Test Condition

DESCRIPTION:

The Annual mechanical integrity test (MIT) is required whenever a well is completed without surface casing set and cemented through the entire zone of usable quality groundwater in accordance with the requirements of Statewide Rule 13.

EXAMPLES:

  1. an existing well that was drilled with 500 feet of surface casing, but the GAU currently recommends 550 feet of surface casing,
  2. an existing well that was drilled with 500 feet of surface casing, and the GAU currently recommends 500 feet of surface casing, but either the cement did not circulate to ground surface or did not meet the Rule 13 quality standard,
  3. an existing well that was drilled with production casing cemented from total depth to ground surface as a single-string completion (without any surface casing), and
  4. an existing well that was required to increase test frequency as a condition of a workover approval, or variance from other construction or operating standards.
