Central Records Temporary Closure Notice

To ensure the safety of the public and Railroad Commission of Texas staff in response to COVID-19 pandemic, Central Records will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 to be sanitized.
Customers wishing to make payments, conduct research, or submit paperwork in person on this day, will need to do so before 2 p.m.
Central Records will reopen on Monday, December 13.

RRC Commissioners Assess More Than $1.2 million in Penalties

AUSTIN – The Railroad Commission of Texas assessed $1,202,243 in fines involving 234 enforcement dockets against operators and businesses at the Commissioners’ Conference on Jan. 26. The Commission has primary oversight and enforcement of the state’s oil and gas industry and intrastate pipeline safety.

Twenty-eight dockets involved $616,894 in penalties after operators failed to appear at Commission enforcement proceedings. Details on these Master Default Orders can be found here on the RRC website.

Operators were ordered to come into compliance with Commission rules and assessed $128,499 for oil and gas, LP-Gas or pipeline safety rule violations. Pipeline operators and excavators were assessed $456,850 for violations of the Commission’s Pipeline Damage Prevention rules. In the absence of timely motions for rehearing, decisions are final as stated in these final orders.
