RRC to Host Public Comment Hearing on Proposed Amendments to Chapter 5 Rules

and EPA Application for Enforcement Primacy of Class VI UIC Program

The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) will host a public comment hearing on the proposed amendments to Chapter 5, relating to Carbon Dioxide (CO2), and on the RRC’s application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for enforcement primacy of the Class VI Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program.

The hearing will be held virtually from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. It can be viewed via live webcast on the AdminMonitor website at https://adminmonitor.com/tx/rrc/hearing/20220614/.

The first part of the hearing will consist of a brief overview by RRC staff regarding the proposed rule amendments and the RRC's application for enforcement primacy of the Class VI UIC program. The second part of the hearing will consist of public comment on both the proposed amendments and the primacy application.
